    Last year in my civics class, I had to create a Google Slides project on a current event topic. At first, I picked welfare but my teacher encouraged me to find something more challenging and up to my caliber. She chose for me to focus on Euthanasia and the 9th Amendment (The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people). I had no clue what Euthanasia was when she first brought it up, I couldn't even remember how to say the word at first. However, the more and more I did research on it, I discovered how much of an issue it is in today's society. Euthanasia is a process which terminally ill patients choose to undergo a "painless death" . Basically, if you're undergoing a terminal cancer and you believe there is no point in keeping yourself alive, you can have this process performed. This is frowned upon by many people because it's described as a religious insult since according to the Bible you are not to leave the world until God says you can. Personally, I don't agree with things like suicide residing with the same factor of God. Yet, I do believe if you are terminally ill and believe there is no point of suffering any longer, you should have this right. I don't really know if you can say Euthanasia is morally acceptable. Again, it's one of those cases where everyone has a very diverse opinion. Euthanasia is not seen as morally acceptable but I believe it's a matter of choice. Of course there are things probably corrupt with it, but if it's invested in, it could actually work. In conclusion, Euthanasia is a very interesting topic to debate on, because of its "morally acceptable" factor and the opinions formed on it.

    1. I can agree with you that we should be someone's choice, you wouldn't like to have your loved one in pain when they could be put to rest peacefully. After all many dogs are put down for the same reason, but they don't have a choice, we on the other hand do have a choice. In addition, it would be considered selfish to me or other people, in my opinion that, if somebody was suffering and couldn't do it much longer that we asked for them to 'stick it out' or make it your decision when they have to leave. I believe it's their choice, but they should take some time to think it over instead of being rash.

    2. Personally, I believe that euthanasia is not morally acceptable in any circumstance. No person should have the right to take any lives, including their own. As humans, we should be working on ways to prolong life, not to make it shorter.

    3. While Euthanasia is not morally accepted I believe that it is necessary in some cases. Terminally ill people who know they don't have much longer to live should have the option of dying. They don't deserve to suffer. I believe if you have the right to live then you have the right to die but only if you are terminally ill because some people may want to die while they can still get help.

    4. Your response was very helpful to me because I did not know what Euthanasia was up until this point. I do not think Euthanasia is something I would ever use, even if I was very ill and certainly not something I would want any of my family to resort to but I believe that people have the right to use Euthanasia. As Leah said, I think that there should be some rules on when it is necessary to use it as it is probably very easy to lose hope while suffering through a disease such as cancer even though there may be procedures that can still be done to help a person. Although a person may feel like they're going through a rough time, there could be a way to cure their disease and what they are feeling. I do not personally agree with the use of Euthanasia but I think that people have the right to do whatever they want if they feel it is the best decision.

  2. This was very helpful considering I did not know what Euthanasia was. Euthanasia is acceptable by certain people depending on religion and beliefs. This was very insightful but I disagree and believe it is not morally acceptable based on my religion.

    (Statement 8) I believe elderly are treated with more respect today than before. After watching presentations on the topic of social injustices and learning about ageism, I am now aware of the treatment towards our elders. Many were neglected and seen as old and unable to be put in the workforce so they were seen as undesirable and useless to people during the Great Depression. They weren’t taken care of properly and had very little to no support. In search of jobs and money slipping from the hands of businesses and everyday people, they couldn’t afford to support elderly. They couldn’t work and most saw the elders as bombarding and burdensome to deal with, they could sometimes rely on churches for support, but sometimes that wasn’t enough. Today we are expected to treat the elderly with respect and kindness, a new “Elderly Rights Law” was passed in China; this was put in order to never have the elderly neglected. We are now taught by our parents to respect our grandparents and that it doesn’t hurt out go out of your way to help out an elder you may see struggling with groceries or some of us visit nursing homes to just give company to those who may not be able to see their family often. In many cultures the elderly may be considered with the utmost respect and you shouldn’t have to think twice before providing the elderly with comfort, support, or help. I know to just call my grandparents to let them know I still love them and that I think about them and that I care, and to help elders who need it.
    It is way different from back then, elders are treated with kindness and respect more than they were back then and even if they don’t ask for it help should still be offered to those elders may look like they need it.

    1. While I do agree that the situation for the elderly has greatly improved, I disagree that the situation is perfectly in hand now. The government still does not help the elderly as much as they should, and in some cases the elderly are still reliant on family or friends. Again, you don't see this as often anymore, but it still is a minor problem.

    3. I agree with Alicia that the attitude towards elderly has improved but it still is not perfect. Also, the way some of us are raised does have a positive impact on how they are treated. This is because if you were brought up to love, respect, and help your grandparents then you will respect other elders as well.

    4. I also tend to agree with you. The treatment of our elders has improved, but not nearly enough. Our elders brought us into this world and as they would say, can take us out of it too. We need to be respectful and love them. It is really about the way you were raised, I visit my Great Grandmother twice or more a month, but some may never visit. This is because my parents taught me to love and cherish time with my elders, and I will teach my kids the same.

    5. I also agree that the way we treat elders has improved, however I believe that there is still room for improvement. We should treat all elders regardless if they are family or not with respect. I also agree with Rachel's comment we all treat elders differently due to the way we were raised. If we were taught to treat elders with respect, we usually do, but if we were not taught that way we do not respect them. I believe that the way we treat elders also affects the ways in which they treat us.

    7. I agree with many others that we treat the elders better now than in the past, but their are still some flaws in today's society about how we treat our elders. I agree with Rachel that the amount of respect towards elders we have for them was how we were raised. Some of us were taught to respect our elders, but some people were not raised to respect them enough, so they neglect the elders as useless and not part os society.

  5. In some circumstances you want your friend to tell you the truth. In other cases when they tell you the truth you may get offended. Both circumstances happen to everyone in their lives but in my opinion I would want my friends to always tell me the truth. Even if it is something bad I wouldn’t want them to hide it from me I would want to know. However, I would only trust some people with this belief because if i am not close friends with people I would not want them saying my flaws. Also, if I am with someone that I am not friends with I would not want them to judge me but if it was my friend I would want them to tell me what they think. Another reason I find this acceptable is that if they are a true friend they will not be mean or rude they will tell you the truth kindly. This is very important because if you have a friend that is rude then they are not a true friend. Also, if you are that friend that tells the truth that is not a bad thing however you should not be rude about it or you may not have that friend for long. An example could be if you have something in your teeth. There are many scenarios that can happen but out of politely telling you, pretending they don’t know, and chanting it to the whole, you would want the first scenario where your friend politely tells you. There is a picture that perfectly sums up the sentence about friends and it is located at the bottom of the paragraph. This is an amazing quote because it explains how true friends need to stay close to you especially the ones that are not afraid to speak the truth.

    1. I agree that my friends should tell the truth to me even if they know it might offend me. I would much rather have them tell me the truth than find out later that they were lying to me. I can not think of many situations where honesty would not be the best option.

    2. I see that you want to protect your friends feelings, but the truth is the truth and it needs to be known. It is not necessarily rude if you tell the truth, but I see how it can be interpreted as rude. I believe the best way to go about this is if you were in your friends shoes, would you want to be told? If you did, go ahead and tell then and if you feel that it would hurt them and you want to keep it to yourself, then do that.

    3. I also believe that my friends should tell the truth to me even if at times, I may not want to hear it. If my friends are lying to me it makes me think if they are really my friends. If they are always telling me the truth, then I know I can rely on them when I really need them. I rather have a couple really close and honest friends, than have a lot of friends who are not true to me.

    (Statement 4) The topic of women today being treated by men as equals is a topic that has many different views and sides. This is a topic that often gets looked upon a lot and leads to many debates and arguments. Sometimes women feel that they are not treated equally by men because men often are seen as superior so they tend to have higher ranks in jobs and often get paid more in the same job. However, there are exceptions and different problems under different circumstances. Sometimes, women will have higher positions in jobs and even sometimes earn more money. I believe that there really is not right or wrong view at this because women and their equal rights have come a long way over the years. I think I am stuck in between the two different sides: women are treated equal and women are not treated equal. Overall I believe that women have the same rights as men and they are treated equal. Now many men believe that women are just as capable at doing things that men are normally good at. In fact, sometimes women are more capable at things that men are thought of to be better. I think the reason for this is that there are women have proven what they are able to do. Today women play in high roles just like men and there are many smart women. On the other hand, however I do not think like this, women are often not seen as equal by men. Some men today still think that women are not capable at doing things that they can do and they also think that men are more superior to men. The stereotype of men being the “breadwinners” for the family and earning more money in the normal household is still a huge stereotype today. However, that as been proven wrong and some people see that as a bad thig that women earn more money than the men but others see no problem with it.     1. You seem to be switching back and forth weather you think women have equal rights or not. I can see what your saying in that to some ways women are equal, and in some ways they are not. I believe women have worked hard to prove they are capable of anything men can do and I believe they have come a long way as far as gaining equality, however I think women still are treated inferior.

    4. I believe that women are still not treated as equals in society, although they are getting closer to equality. This is my belief for many reasons. The main area that there is discrimination is in the workplace. Statistically speaking, men are being hired for jobs more than women, even though women are going to college more than boys are. This is due to stereotyping on the part of the employer. This is thought to be the reason that women have fewer positions in more physically-inclined jobs, such as construction or a moving company. While there is still some discrimination in the U.S, we are lucky to not have as much discrimination as some other countries. Many countries all over the world do not give women basic rights. Countries such as Cambodia, Haiti, Pakistan and Afghanistan do not give women a proper education. If the women in these countries even get to school, they still do not get as long of an education as a man. There are many examples of gender inequality all over the world. One of these is that road safety laws do not apply to a woman, thus signifying the devaluation of a woman’s life over a man. Another example of gender inequality is that women in Yemen are only considered half of a witness in a legal testimony. A third example of gender inequality in the world is that Saudi Arabia and Vatican City still do not have woman’s suffrage, which means that women still do not have the right to vote. Another example of gender inequality is that in Saudi Arabia, women are not allowed to drive anywhere, however, the rule is currently being debated as to whether or not it should be revoked.     1. I agree with what Jake is saying. My group's power point project was about women and how they were not being treated equal so I have some knowledge in this myself. Also, my parents are both from Cambodia so they tell me lots of crazy stories some of them showing how few rights women have there. If you were to compare women's rights in the U.S. vs. women's rights around the world you would see a huge difference.

  9. The statement that I chose to respond to is number 8. It states “Being rich is more important than having close friends.” I completely disagree with this statement. Someone can live with very little money, however without my friends I think I would die. If the only thing a person worries about is money than their life will be filled with stress and greed. Without my close friends at my side I know that my life would be bland and uninteresting. While I was on the internet I came across this post that said “Would you shoot your best friend in the leg for 10 million dollars?” Even though I will most likely never be faced with this question and it is probably just a joke I still thought about it. I realized that no matter how cliché this may sound the bond between my best friend and I is much more valuable than any amount of money. I would much rather be poor with close friends than rich without them. My friends make me happy and happiness is one of the only things that money cannot buy. Another thing that can not be bought is friendship. If people only like someone for their money then they are not real friends. I can see where a person might think that money is more important than friends if they are in a tight situation. If someone is starving and in need of food, then I can see how they might think that money is more necessary than friends. I guess it all depends on a person’s situation and needs, but in my case I would never give up my friends for money. It is very possible for someone to have a little bit of money, yet still be happy since they have good friends to rely on. On the other hand someone with lots of money could be very unhappy with their lives if they do not. Sometimes I feel like I take my friends for granted. I try to imagine my lives without them and realize how horrible it would be. In summary, I strongly disagree with the opinion that being rich is more important than having close friends.

    5. Your decision to choose friends over money is something I too agree with. For example, if you loose all your money, what are you left with? Friends will always be there for you and that is something money can not do. Another thing is, that people that value money over friends, are basically saying paper is more important than a human. But like you said, there are points where you desperately need money.

  10. I have chosen to respond to number 5; “When people are a victim of a crime, they should be able to take the law into their own hands.” I said that I disagree with this statement. Different people have different reactions to events that occur. There are so many crimes involving victims that may affect each victim differently. Allowing the victim to take matters into their own hands can potentially be dangerous. If I was attacked by someone, and they caught them, my instinct would be to fight back. I would want to do to them what they did to me so they know how it felt. This is being hypocritical however. The criminal is being punished for committing a crime however since I am allowed to take the law into my own hands I can cause the same crime and it is okay to do. This is not fair and it is certainly not right. This works the other way as well. Say I was a different victim of the same crime as the previous case. However I have always been a little shy and quiet. I do not want to take matters into my own hands in fear of the criminal and whether or not people will agree with my decision. So I decide to let the criminal go, simply because I do not know what else to do. Then the criminal gets away with it, and chances are they will keep committing crimes. As a victim, you are too close to the case to take the law into your own hands. That is why there are prosecutors and judges that can make the best decision based on the evidence in front of them. Also a victim can be anybody. The law is very complicated people go through years of school learning about it. A victim of a crime may not have an education of the crime or how to handle it.     1. Personally, I have mixed feelings on whether we should be able to take the law into our hands in regards to being a victim of a crime. Things like self-defense are hypothetically okay, but where does it end? I feel as though I think I would rather have the government take care of a crime committed against me. If I were to take it into my own hands and then get penalized for it by the government as well, that would not be logical.

  11. Life Is The Same
    The statement “Life today is more difficult than it was in the 1930s” stuck out to me the most. This is because some think this statement is completely true while others think it is false, and I am on the fence about it. On one hand, the 1930s was part of the Great Depression and in that time, people starved, were out of work, and some even died. This is one of America’s greatest hardships, and to say that life now is harder than it was when people were struggling to get a loaf of bread, is a little outrageous. But today’s life struggles are a little different. Teenagers struggle with bullying, and it’s not like they didn’t back then, but it doesn’t end after school. Everyone takes home that little computer in their pocket, and the bullying goes on all night. Also, it is now expected of most to have a college degree, when some struggle in school or can’t afford college. Not that it was harder to get a job then, then it is now, but let’s just say it easy now either. So life back then isn’t really comparable to life now, but we think it is hard because we are living it. In 30 years the history books most likely won’t be talking about United States second Great Depression that happened in 2016. If our generation full of the lazies lived during the Great Depression, we wouldn’t have made it out. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is that, live wasn’t made to be easy, and at no time was at easier or harder for people. We have to determine our own fate and get to work, or our life will get harder. For those that say the Great Depression was worse, maybe it was, but I didn’t live during it, so I wouldn’t know the struggles of an average 15 year old.     1. After reading this, I changed my mind on today being less difficult than the 1930s. It is true, that back then, if a kid was bullied, it ended right after school, but now and days it can travel long and far through social media. I also agree that we dont know how the days where back then, so we cant really tell which was easier, but we can always rely to our elders.

    Money can not buy friends
    I chose to respond to number 8 which reads: “being rich is more important than having close friends” I do not agree with this statement at all, it makes me think of the statement “money doesn't buy happiness” and in this case it definitely does not buy you friends. Everyone wishes that they could have all of the money in the world, but not a lot of people think about the other side; what is the use of having all of that money if you have no one to share it with and spend it on. I personally, would rather have an average paying job and a group of great friends than having a top of the line job, with no friends. Having friends gives me a sense of security and I do not want to lose that. Without the friends I have I would not be the person I am today. My friends helped turn me to the person I am and for that I am grateful. A lot of times we think of money as a reason to become close with someone, and this is not right. Money should not be the reason why we chose to make friends, we should make friends because we like the person and we want to be closer to them. For an example what would happen if you were really rich and got everything you wanted, but you were alone and had no friends and one day you somehow lost all that you had. This is the time that you would wish that you had friends to help you up and to help you get through the hard time. Friends are what make you who you are, so if you have a close friend definitely do not let money get in the way of the friendship. In a sense all money and being rich resolves in greed which leads to unhappiness. Sometimes we think that money is the most important thing in life and we take our friends for granted, but we need to remember what would happen if we lost all of our money, then who would you have to turn to for help.

  16. The statement that I chose to respond to is number eight. It states “Being rich is more important than having close friends. I totally disagree with this statement. If one only cares about about being rich and not caring about building bonds between people, they will truly be filled with greed and maybe soon filled with stress or depression. If one would be depressed or stressed out they wouldn’t be able to talk to anyone who would help them through difficult times. One person could middle or low class and have close friends that would make them be filled with happiness. On the other hand a person who would have a stupendous amount of money and could be filthy rich and could have anything they desire, but won’t have the same happiness as if someone who has friends because “money can’t buy friendship”. I wouldn’t imagine a life without friends because they make you who you truly are as well as support you through the long run. They would always have your back and help you through difficult times. Everyone today each have a different mindset, an example is if one would want to have a splendid amount of money so they could survive in today’s economy because of their financial status and be filthy rich so they could get whatever they desire which would lead to greediness. This would be leading to such greed and they wouldn’t remember where they came from, as well as who helped them through those depressing times and provide for them as well. On the other hand, what if one who was crazily rich would just lose everything and they would have no one assist them through these tough times as well as contemplate that you wish you had friends. Some people think that money is the answer to everything and would think that it would buy them happiness, but would it buy true happiness such as creating bonds. In conclusion, having true happiness is having close friends and that being rich could not lead to a healthy lifestyle.

  17. I agree with you that all racial slurs or any slur can be offensive towards anybody, regardless of what the color of their skin is or who they are. I think that the argument comes from the amount of hatred that is behind a racial slur towards an African American since it comes from a really awful place in history. However, I agree that no slur towards people who are of any race or background should be taken lightly, even if it is directed towards a race that has not struggled as much during our history. I definitely agree with you because I think that any slur is offensive and should not be used, no matter who the person using the slur is or who the recipient of the slur is.

    Blog Post #2: “Response to Social Injustices: (the lack of) Women’s Rights”

    A little under three years ago, my sister Rachel began to attend Simmons College, a private, all-girls school located in Boston. The students at Simmons often openly encourage the equal treatment of women and men in society and discuss the injustices women face. My sister is no exception to this and has embraced the Simmons mentality since her arrival, and my mom and I have done the same. When Rachel first began attending Simmons, I was not even in middle school and up until that point, I was not aware at all of the disadvantages women face in society and at that point it really did not make any sense historically or morally why women were and are treated differently from men. From the moment I knew of this ugly reality, I wanted to educate myself on the social and professional injustices both men and women face. Today, although circumstances have improved drastically over time, women are still thought of to be hot-tempered, crazy and naive by some, and there is twenty to twenty five cent wage gap between men and women. However, injustice in America is really only the tip of the iceberg. In some middle-eastern countries, women are treated as property of men and sexual abuse occurs frequently. In our society, I personally do not believe that women are represented very accurately or represented often enough. Many people argue that voters should not choose who to support politically based on gender or race and I also agree with this. However, I believe that a political leader will attempt to accomplish what they view to be important in their own lives. In theory, if there is a female candidate running for president and a male candidate running for president, if the female candidate is elected she will probably make women’s issues in society a top priority and perhaps a man may not feel it is as big of an issue and may put it further down on the list, so to speak. That is not true for every man, it is just the way that people behave, women included. Additionally, women tend to be objectified in the media so often that our minds have almost grown desensitized to it. However, men have also been objectified heavily in the media, especially in recent years. Also, I personally think that men are not treated equally to women because they may feel or be made to feel emasculated for having interests in things that are traditionally thought of to be feminine like clothing instead of sports and they also may feel weaker for crying or sharing their feelings. I think that everyone should be able to lean on someone for support or be interested in whatever they want to be interested in. In conclusion, I think that women and men are still not treated and thought of as equals and that feminism can help both women and men to adance in society.

Sometimes it just takes becoming more aware of an issue to really delve into its complexities and foster conscious change.

    (statement 4) Women being treated equal to men.This has been a struggle for women for quite some time now. You would think since its 2015 women would be seen equal to men, but that's not the case. Yes women have come a long way from not being able to vote or hold office but women are still not paid equally, are objectified, and are seen as inferior to men. Today there are situations where women are are in higher positions than men but it's pretty rare. Now I'm not saying that all men see women as inferior because that's not true, many people see women and men as equal, but there's a majority that don't, and that majority is the cause for the many obstacles that make it difficult for women to be seen equal in this society. For example in recent news a very popular actress and actor were discussing the difference in pay between the two simply because she was a female.

    3. Racial Slurs

    In my opinion, I feel both ways on racial slurs being more offensive towards African Americans or not. I believe that this could be true because Blacks have had a rough history in the past. African Americans have gone through a lot through out time and hearing something offensive about them can be very hurtful. Whites compared to blacks, for example haven’t gone through the extreme slave life and other social injustice problems African Americans had to go through for many many years. Whites did not have to fight as hard as African Americans to get their rights. So, i can see why it could be more offensive to be racist towards an African American. But, racial slurs as a whole are hurtful towards anyone of any race in existence. It does not matter what your race is, or even your age or gender, to be offended by a racist comment. There is no actual reason for anyone to be racist towards anyone else. Being racist can really hurt a person’s feelings. Hearing something mean towards you can be traumatizing and it could make you feel bad about yourself no matter what your race is. But, people shouldn’t listen to the racial slurs that other rude people say to them. The old saying is “sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me”, is an important saying. No matter who you are or what your race might be, you should try your best not to listen to those who try to hurt you.     Statement 14 stood out to me the most due to the fact that nowadays anyone is allowed to be what they want. I had to think back to the days where people were not really allowed to do what they want, and they would not have an easy opportunity like us. Back then, Women for example could work, but the jobs they had was not really what they wanted and they weren’t living their dreams. Men could get any job they wanted, and they could prosper and become anything their hearts desired. Another group of people that could not live their dreams was the African Americans, most had low paying jobs and surprisingly the men had some good jobs for then. People couldn’t choose what they wanted, which didn’t cause them to actually make a good living and become something big America. Nowadays people can do whatever they please. There is no law against who can do what, and there's no racial or gender discrimination for picking a job. You can see in so many videos that people are coming to the U.S. happy to live the american dream, and creating culture. One of the great things about the U.S. is that we allow anyone to come, and we give them the opportunity to have a new life. I oppose to people that are trying to stop anyone from coming into the country, due to the fact that everyone’s ancestors came here too. Now it is to an extent where maybe the country is getting overpopulated, and there won’t be enough support. But I guess it depends on the way you see it. Living the dream is not just about being rich and famous, it is about knowing that you did something for a change, and you bettered a life. America is one good place to start your life over, and living the American dream is one great thing to be doing.

    The topic that i chose to talk about was Euthanasia. i chose this topic because it is very controversial, and an important issue today. euthanasia is when a terminally ill patient decides to painlessly end there life with a pill or other substance. it is a very debated topic and there are many different standpoints argueing to legalize it or not. i personally believe that it is up to the person who has to make the choice, and if they truly want to have it done then they should be able to. it should not be someone else’s choice because they should not be able to decide how someone lives their life. the argument on the other side is that it is morally wrong to end a life before it occurs naturally. this is mostly a religious standpoint because lots of religions believe that all life is sacred. i agree that life should be as long as possible for everyone, but when the person is experiencing extreme pain, and is bedridden, or can’t even talk to people, i do not consider that truly living. i think that if a person who only has a certain amount of life left to live, and is experiencing pain all the time, wants to end their suffering, they should be able to make that choice for themselves. euthanasia should remain legal because it is no one’s choice to make but the person with the disease, and outlawing it would be forcing all of the terminally ill people to suffer for the last few months or weeks. it would also make the families of the ill patients to remember them as sickly bedridden people, not what they should have been remembered as.

  25. Even when you are best friends with somebody, it can sometimes be hard to tell them how you feel. You never want to hurt their feelings, especially if you do not know how sensitive someone can be. However I feel that it is always important to tell your friend the truth no matter what the circumstances. Your friend may disagree or be unhappy with you, but the reality is the truth will always be there and it is just a matter of time before your friend decides to face it. I, for one know how hard it can be to tell someone the truth or break the news to them about something. You never want to hurt your friend, but I would hope that my friends would tell me the truth about everything. Whether it be they think I am not being a good friend to whether or not they like my outfit. In my opinion, I believe that the truth is always better than trying to shelter someone from the sometimes harsh reality. Although your friend may not want to hear what you have to say, or think what you are saying is rude, the facts are the facts and they are going to find out the truth eventually. I know that I would want to hear the truth right away, and preferably from a friend rather than just hearing it accidentally. I believe that one of the strongest bonds in a friendship is being able to talk to each other freely and not worry about offending one another. Another strong component of friendship is the ability to be honest with each other.   26. Euthanasia is an option terminally ill people have, in other words, assisted suicide. While I in no means agree with suicide, for a person who will surely die anyway who can either live a short painful life, or end it faster with a pill should be able to make that choice. many people have varied opinions about this topic, and many people, mainly family member of the ill person believe that this is not a liable option. However, in my opinion, a person should be able to decide whether to live a painful life, or die sooner. I believe this because they are the one’s in pain, and they should at least have the option to end their pain. While I disagree I can understand why a family wouldn’t want a person they care for to end their life soon; However the person’s family has to try to see things through the ill person’s point of view, and they must understand that their loved one is in severe pain and will most likely die anyway. I think that the issue many people have with accepting this method is that they cannot relate to the severe pain and knowledge that you are going to die soon that a person with a terminal illness lives with. Many friends and relatives think that the longer the ill person lives the better, however i feel that the ill person should be able to decide to end their pain or live with it because it is their life and they are the one’s slowly and painfully dying. Some people see euthanasia as murder, however it is the person’s own choice to end their life, not the doctor’s; because of this i cannot see how anyone could consider this murder; One can have time to talk and spend time with their family and then have a fast and painless death. This also gives the person’s loved ones the opportunity to see this person one last time.

    1. I agree with this topic and how people who are in pain and may die soon, should have the right to do something to get rid of the pain and, essentially kill them self. However, I do not think it is morally right but I have also not been in a position like that where a family member may or may not die. I feel like I would not want a family member to die but I would want them to be happy.

  27. Sometimes it is really important to tell your friend the truth, especially when no one else is. However, some things should not be said to a friend if it can hurt their feelings or make them too self conscious. Commenting negatively on physical appearances, personalities, or issues going on in the family is not something you share with a friend even if it is the truth. Other things like if they are being mean to someone or if they are involved in too much drama is something you can tell a friend that will end up benefiting them in the end. However, telling them that their teeth aren’t pretty or that they are annoying would just make the friend feel hurt. It is important to tell your friend the truth as long as it won’t majorly hurt their feelings. On the other hand, if you were in your friend's shoes you would want to know the truth about certain things. It is hard to determine whether to tell the truth or not, seeing that telling the truth could backfire on you and you would end up hurting your friend. In the end, it is really up to you and what you feel is correct to do depending on each individual and personal situation. In past experiences, I have told my friends the truth and it didn’t backfire for the most part. Even if everything didn’t go as planned, it all worked out in the end. Over time, the truth will come out so in the majority of situations, it is better for your friend to hear the truth from you rather than from someone else. In conclusion, it is all personal and what seems morally correct to you. Each situation has its own case and it can be good or bad to tell your friend the truth.

I think that it also depends on the friend and also agreeing with the thought of will it benefit the friend. I think that if my friend knew something that I did not I would want them to tell me the truth even if it hurts or does not benefit. This topic really depends on how you feel or how your friend will feel. If it will do something that will make you guys not friends, I would not bother.

    I personally think that euthanasia is morally acceptable. I feel like it’s hard for the person who is making the decision and that they wouldn’t do it without thinking it over thousand of times and they would come to that decision by considering how much pain that they have went through and more pain that they will go through in the future. I’m not against this because they are giving up their life because they were put through so much pain. I feel that ending your life is a huge decision to make and that no will blankly do it. Some people may think this is completely wrong and no matter what a person should not decide to end their life. However, I believe that it’s your life and it’s your choice on what to do and what not to do with it and that no one should tell you what is right and what is wrong with you choosing to die. On the other hand, I think if it’s a family member or a friend that you won’t be open to the idea and might be against it overall because naturally you want someone that you love to stick around as long as they can but if you're in their shoes and feel exactly what they feel you might think otherwise and understand them. I also think euthanasia does something with your religion and/or what you believe in because some people might say that it’s up to god when it’s your time to leave and not yours. In conclusion I think it’s ultimately the your decision on what to do with their life and if they want to end it because of the reason of the pain and the environment they been living too then I think they should because at least they left without suffering any more pain.
